Found in weeds

Post by Crapover »

Now that I am a Datsun roadster owner my friends are interested in it. Today a buddy texted me and says "Dude I just saw a car just like yours in the weeds only a few miles away from your house". I'm thinking...yeah it's an MG or something. Nope, a 69 and 70 2000 in rough shape but complete with parts.

The owner wasn't home, his kid said he will be around tomorrow. I'll be getting both somehow to feed the addiction. Why didn't the photos upload??

I'm going to be bugging the crap out of everyone here to get these babies going. One head is off and the Pistons are exposed but under the hood. Both have su carbs one frame is rotted bad in one spot. I imagine both floors are shot. Maybe this is a bad idea......

OF COURSE it is a bad idea.
But most all of us started like this.
Parts roadsters are a necessity for a roadster owner.
You got time?, $?, Compliant other?, Garage space?, Not too old?
If you can answer yes to at least 2 of the above,
GO FOR IT.
:D :D :D

Well at least I have one to use as a reference when I can't figure something out. Time to learn bodywork, and electrical, and timing an engine, and upholstery, and automotive painting, and .........what am I forgetting.....carb tuning!!!

Looks like a lot of usable parts if you have the time and space.

That happens a lot when you have a roadster. They multiply! Oh - you should definitely buy them!

The 69 motor is apart, head in trunk, missing cam. 69 frame has big hole drivers front . Not sure I'm up to saving these . Dude wants $500 for the pair. I'm going to get them and see if the 70s engine will move and see if it's frame is ok. We'll see from there.

Nice score on the Libre wheels. That's $500 right there.

I bet you can get them running pretty easily if nothing's broken in the engines.

Cheers
