Ignition cylinder

Post by Fairlady5150 »

So I believe my ignition lock cylinder is shot. I checked out datsunparts.com, but they don't appear to stock them. Checked a couple of parts houses with no luck either. Nissan dealership has never heard of Datsun, so I'm striking out there. Any ideas? Would need new matching keys as well.

Rallye seems to have some options...

They also have a used parts section that might have what you need.

mraitch the switch won't engage the starter, and the turn signals only operate in the 'On' position if you wiggle the key a certain way and are incredibly lucky. Are these rebuildable? I wasn't aware this is the case.

Quick update. Once I removed the cylinder, I found there are two 'halves' to the lock cylinder. The front, where the key inserts and the back, where the wiring harness connects. The plastic collar that slips over the back half and locks it together with the front half had a crack, so it wasn't securing the two halves together. I reconnected the two using a pair of zip-ties. Not a fix that I'm overly proud of, but it's concealed by the plastic steering wheel trim. :-)
