Ted Garage Update. Roadster Wanted and Roadster Available

I am quite pleased with my 2 best roadsters.
The 64 1500 and the 67.5 SR20DET conversion (Prowler).
BUT I would like to buy another newer conversion roadster while I still have a few driving years left.
Must be an excellent conversion with a "modern" updated Powertrain.
I know, not may of these around but as we know, sales of highest level roadsters are usually private.
Top $ for the right roadster.
Let me know if you are ready to sell.

Some of you have expressed interest if the Prowler was going to be up for sale
But I do not see it becoming available as my son will take it over when I stop driving it.
That would free up for sale his current roadster, the Kaplan 1968 SR20DET conversion.

I will have the famous (infamous?) Smaldino 66 KA roadster up for sale soon.
I have retrieved it from its long storage, resolved its intermittent "cutting out" problem
( a bad ground!!, so many problems are caused by bad grounds!!), am making backlogged minor repairs and updates,
will plan to drive it to Solvang and the other 2019 roadster shows and sell it in the Fall.
Unless someone must have it earlier. I will compile a photo gallery and narrative in a few weeks.
Long time 311s members know the roadster.
In Brief. Complete restoration restomod 1966 low windshield. KA conversion. Best of show Solvang (2008 I believe). A very pretty roadster.
To separate the serious from the curious, the price is $22K.
Contact me if you are interested.

Are you looking for a different power plant or are you looking for another SR swapped roadster?

Hi J Funk.
Are you going to let us Seattle area DROPS Guys see you new SR roadster??
Not a garage queen, I hope!!  .
How about driving to Solvang with us??
Bring it to the next dry NWDE meeting. You live close.

As for a new roadster, I am looking for complete conversion roadster. not just a motor upgrade for one of mine.
Once you have an SR20DET powered roadster, the next one has to be better!
Thinking SR20VE, SR20VET. Something with NEO VVL. Nissan and turbo preferred but the Honda S2000 VETC swap at Solvang was sure NICE.
Not many of these done and hopefully owners should be out enjoying them.
BUT, you got to ask and get the word out if you expect to find one.

I'm glad to hear that someone finally put an S2000 engine into a roadster - that is too cool. I used to have one and it was a blast to drive.

Cheers

Ha ha! Definitely not a garage queen - she's a driver for sure! Unfortunately, I've been busy with a house remodel and my garage space has been compromised. My roadster is at a buddy's house down the road safe and sound, but we're wrapping up this month so she'll be back in the garage and on the road this coming year. I guarantee you'll see her!

As blasphemous as it sounds, I support the S2000 swap. Such a great engine! I'll keep an eye out for you Ted and look forward to seeing soon.

Do you have a thread on the roadster for sale? I'm new and have no idea if these are inside jokes on the car or it really has been around the block a few times :?:

So just a couple thoughts..

As far as I am aware, there are 2 complete roadsters with a VE head, and 2 under construction..

The two VET cars are stunning. Jon Frampton's SR22VET and Eric Straw's currently under construction. For VE you are talking my street car and Kevin's SR24VE under construction.

My car is of course for sale for the right money. I am always willing to do it again with the lessons learned, to build exactly what I want.

I watched Jon turn down a huge offer flat on the floor at SEMA. He said it was his dad's car and it's not going anywhere for less than life changing money.

Eric Straw is of course a businessman and does fabrication, so his car might be for sale, but I have no insight to really offer there except the work is gorgeous and it's not quite done. Maybe he would let you pick your finishes.

Kevin's car is probably the farthest from being done, but it could be built in a matter of months for the right motivation. The engine is complete, the chassis is done. It just needs to be built.

I think if you are serious about a VE swapped car it would be worth a discussion with Michael Spreadbury, Eric Straw, or Kevin D. Pretty sure Rob at Z Car Garage has the skills to build one as well. You know the quality of a Spriso car. You own one. And Jon's car that you parked next to at Solvang gives you an idea of what Kevin can do..

Truly the recipie is out there, but the people who have built them will have learned from the trials. Its straightforward, but its still something of an experiment..

But the market of known complete cars is TINY.

Best of luck and I really hope you find the car you are looking for.

Hi PMG,
Yes these are inside jokes about the roadster but the roadster is for real and does not have 300K miles.
My Friend pebbles is having some fun.
Car was restored in 2003-2007 and the new Auto Meter speedo was rest to zero. I have owned the roadster about 10 years.
Driven about 10,000 miles.
I will have a narrative and photo gallery in a few weeks when the roadster is ready to sell.

RCMike,
Thanks for the summary of the current status of VE and VET Roadsters.
About what I expected. VERY limited opportunity to purchase one.
I will talk to Kevin about his VE. I thought he was backlogged for years.
(Some racer keeps getting his roadster wacked and Kevin seems involved in never ending assistance!)
Thanks

Dammit, Alvin, don't encourage him. We folks in the PNW have to suffer enough as it is.

10k miles? Really? I figured less than 5k.
