Fuel pump install assistance

Post by AC77 »

My old pump had the outlet at about 2 o'clock, the new one has it at 11 o'clock. How am I supposed to account for this? I removed the screws from the new pump and it seems to be sealed really well and I didn't want to mess it up, so I put them back on. What are my options, I;ve included a picture of my old pump, my new pump and where my hard lines are that run to the carbs.

Thanks,
Adam

It almost looks like if you removed the brass fitting off the fuel line, it would be a direct fit. If it reaches... or add a straight brass fitting if it doesn't.

I'm not sure what you could mess up, if new.

Why not just move the top where you want it??

Your newer pump may be a 68-70 2000 fuel pump. They have different clocking than the 1600. I don't know why you have the angled fitting. It should just be straight. It is easy to take the top off and rotate or put your old top on if needed.

Thanks all, got it installed and just got back from a rather hot test drive. I reclocked it and had to use a little persuasion on the fuel line.
