window mechanism thing

Post by Lorna c »

ok so inside the doors has that metal thing that moves the window up and down . well I've removed Everything from inside except the thing that matches the door shut on the outside of door , holds door shut when closed , anyway I'm at a loss on how to get it back in . the part with the gears that roll up and down window . ugh . I think I know which goes on driver's side and passenger side but have no idea after that . can't seem to find a picture of how it sits in the door and how the window gets moved up and down . . triangle windows are in with the gutters that hold the window I believe, are set but now what ?? heeeelp please .. if any of this makes sense . I'll get a picture right now too ...well my pictures still won't load ..

Look at the Online Datsun Parts manual in the TechWiki it shows all of the components of the door in a illustration.

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Regulator goes in first. Then side glass, then the wing :smt006

oh ok . I read it again . I see that a regulator must be the big X with rollers and has the window knob hooked to it (that clips on later) . anyway that's what's confusing . how old scissorhand contraption slides into which gullies ? But I haven't looked at that picture yet . I may have helped myself on that one :-)

ok quick question on returning the window into door pls .
on the regulator there are three wheels 1 faces the track towards the cabin the other two are facing streetside to hook in the window ,I would think .. now which wheels do I put in first ? how it looks from the picture you have them in the window before you put it on the track that's mounted ? or should it even be mounted yet 9n the horizontal track ? does anyone know out there please help . I'm trying to mount them rt now and have a helper rt now ..(which never happens )

ok so easy peasy ! without scratching up the tint . window rolled all the way up , all galss is pulled except the track ( side to side mounts on door, inside hole .) I take out one screw on left side and leave the other tight . pop door glass inside top frame flexing the opening slightly . putting rollers in the back and front track using the short track you took a screw out of to tip your front bar if you need to get it in that way .. put screw back into that track slide window backwards into back rail vertical track and hold . then slide the triangle window in turning slightly to fit in the tabs as they go down. and fasten it all up ! done . no scratches . you don't even know how many times it took me to figure this out . haha
