Hey All , getting ready to start engine for SRL # 225 out of car on engine stand . I sold 225 to a friend who had the engine rebuilt at a local machine shop maybe 10 yrs ago but never tried to install or start it . I wound up buying the car back from him then after a few months he passed away .
Now i have the engine at a friends shop and we found out the upper chain tensioner is missing . I have a spare one from a 69 U20 engine # 11724 and bought a KIt with new foot , spring ,gasket from Rising Sun Racing .
My question is will a tensioner from a 69 U20 work in a early U20 engine ? When i tried looking up the gasket part numbers it showed the late 69 U20 to use a different gasket than the other engines
The larger foot goes on the upper tensioner correct ??
Thanks Jackson

Larger foot goes on upper tensioner (long chain). Flat side of tensioner foot to the top. I don't believe that the tensions changed at all over the years for the U20. Regarding gasket part numbers, Nissan does supersede part numbers. Check using www.carpartsmanual.com
