Can you guys take a look at this video, it's a running 1970 roadster. Tell me what you think. I'm leaning towards this one, it's over 300 miles away so I can't just drive over and take a look at it, I have to trust what the seller tells me before I can run up and trailer it home.

What kind of questions should I ask the seller?
Do you see anything I should be concerned with?

Seller states he did a Volvo brake conversion, what should I be concerned about?,
I don't think the conversion is completed yet and still needs work on the brakes.

Says he has extra parts, roll bar, soft top frame, hard top, etc...........

Where is it located? Maybe you can get someone on the forum that lives in the area to take a look. I'm rather new to roadsters myself, so I'm not speaking from much experience. The engine sounds fine at idle. Mine certainly sounds different when giving it some gas, but it's video and not in person. Would be interesting to see a video of it being driven, but if the brake conversion isn't complete, that probably isn't possible. Maybe even seeing how it starts? It might be helpful to know what he's asking.

I glanced through your earlier post and still have no feeling for what abilities you possess.
Are you going to do your own work?
Just mechanical?
Just body and or paint?

It was my favorite color...Sonora Blue
I would like to see pictures covering the inside of the trunk, in front of the radiator but behind the grille. Floor. Under carriage.
Better pictures of the sides, door gaps, inside the fenders.
Does he have the side molding?
Glance on the rear quarter shows Bondo covering the seam.
Its going to need body work before paint.


What price?

Pictures of the car driving, even if its just slowing backing and forward.

I have been around these car for a long time, so my prices would be low.

I would think the price range would be 3-5K depending on a lot of things.

BTW, it will have 2 dents in the grille from not supporting the hood with the strut...<

FJ, I've been around cars since High School, built several mustangs that started as shells. The big difference that I see, is that I can get just about anything I need for a mustang, compared to trying to find parts for a roadster. Very comfortable with mechanics, pretty good with body work, painted one car in the past. Probably leave that to the pros though. So, my intentions on a roadster is to build a safe, nice car. Not going to do a complete restoration, just make it nice, fun, and safe.

My first car was a 68 roadster in Sonora Blue. Should have never sold it. My grandfather gave it to me when I was 13, my dad and I rebuilt the engine and got it running by the time I was 15 and I drove it through high school until the trans blew. I was young and dumb, didn't know any better.

I think we all have that story of the car we shouldn't have sold. Sounds like lots of good memories with that car. Glad you will be starting some new ones soon.

The green one in Madera needs both qtr panels replaced so, the parts car would have to be the donor plus it is missing all the interior except the seats which are very rough per the seller. Unfortunately, I'm already busting at the seams in the driveway and don't have room for 2 project cars.

I think if I can get the one in the video for 1.5 - 2k plus trip expenses I'll be in a good spot and making a fair deal. If so, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it. If this car is missing the windshield trim, is that going to be one of those hard to find replacement parts?

Worst that can happen is he say's no, right!

If you can get it in that price range I think you'll be in good shape.

Pretty sure there are more windshield trims out there than there are windshields.
Just a video, but it does sound like the rocker arm shaft or rockers could be worn.

Update, Just spoke with the seller.

He states that the brake conversion is complete, just needs to be bled. No Bondo in the car, floors are perfect, trunk has surface rust, gauges are working, has the front grill, shifter is solid, lights work, doesn't know about the windshield trim, doesn't have the side trim. Been in storage 6 yrs. Has soft top and hard top, side marker lights.

He did something to modify the accelerator cable, something that prevents it from stretching so he doesn't have to keep adjusting it??? Say's it can be put back to stock very easily.

Extra parts are, set of stock wheels, hood, trunk lid, front fender, back bumper, and roll bar. He has a strong accent, so sometimes it's hard to understand exactly what he's saying, but sounds like he might have additional parts as well.
