Prefer it to a high windshield with the top down, the low windshield is farther forward and feels more open. For some reason, it also seems like the low windshield cars have less wind noise/ buffeting on the highway. Opening vent windows are nice too. If you want Miata seats or similar, stick to high windshield, the tall seats look silly with the low windshield, to me.Things learned in the first 5 or 6 roadsters...Besides the usual stuff, like rust and general condition, go for a car that's being driven somewhat regularly.
Downside of cars that have sat a while, stuff goes bad and what you saved on a non-running car gets eaten up fixing it. Plus your time.
Avoid flips, unless you can find some history on the car.
Be sure you have a good gas tank, no replacements exist and its a pain getting them clean and crap keeps clogging things
Brakes and clutch hydraulics tend to seize up, not cheap.
If it's a 5 speed, be sure to drive it, or take into account it may be no good, they usually go for about 1K. 4 speeds tend to be a dime a dozen, until you need one.
Swaps all come down to how well it was done and if corners were cut.
I think California also back charges you for not registering the car every year, don't they?
