Hello my friends.
Yesterday I did the transmission oil change. What came out was pretty fluid and very dark. I replaced it with Valvoline 80w-90 wich looked much more dense than what came out.

Went for a test drive at night, everything worked great till 20-30mn when gears started to grind slightly. Stopped for 30mn and when I started again it was very difficult to get into 1st gear. Had to pump the clutch twice for it work. Managed to drive for 10mn then clutch pedal becam super soft and didn’t appear to do anything. Pulled over and had to call AAA for a tow at midnight...

Did I use the wrong type of oil? Did I do anything wrong?

Check the level of the the fluid in the clutch master. My slave cylinder just went sour for no resone once. Gives the simptoms you had.

Clutch master/Slave cylinder?

You have to bleed the system at the clutch slave, to get the air out. I would strongly suggest a speed bleeder for the slave cylinder.
If slave is bad, AutoZone has them, 20 bucks.
Not sure about that gear oil.

Definitely sounds like clutch issues, and not related to the fluid change - just extremely coincidental??
Look at the Clutch master/slave soft hose for signs of wear/blow-out.

Ok so I haven’t raised the car back up yet but clutch master reservoir is indeed empty.
Also seal at the push rod seems wet and damaged. Attaching pictures of it for you guys to check!

The aftermarket clutch MC and SC are actually very affordable and easy to install. I might just replace both if they are looking at all leaky

Unfortunately I was alone today and couldn’t find speed bleeders in store, I’ll wait for a friend to come help for the bleed and see if MC or SC or hose is leaking. One more lesson to learn

That rubber part is really just a dust seal. I think you would see a lot more brake fluid in the footwell if that was the leak.
When this happened to me the clutch worked great at one stop sign and then went strait to the floor at the next. There was a big puddle under the SC

Ha! Very similar picture!
Yes I can see the remains of a stain in the footwell but it was dry to the touch at the time of the failure.

I’ll go under the car tomorrow and let you guys know how it looks.

Any advice against going aftermarket for Master or Slave Cylinders?
