-6 C ... but the car passed BC inspection...now just the red tape part of registering in BC! Definitely took the long way where ever I went today. The heater works, so does anything else really matter?

You need a 12 volt car blanket!

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Thanks for the suggestion, Linda ... but I've found this to be much more effective 8)...good to -40 C (... which is the same as -40 F for those who care) :)

Successfully registered in BC!

Next steps are glue down the interior, install some weather stripping, replace hard top rubber .... then I'm pretty sure it will be an aceptable Daily Driver and Rolling Restoration, ready to licence & insure for the road.

Had a few moments to spare on my Holiday Monday (Family Day here in BC). Adjusted the hard top clamps so the top shouldn't fly off, fashioned a driver side rope handle to pull the door closed, taped the loose hard top rubber so it is out of the way for now, installed the extra large rear view mirror for a bit better view of who I just passed. I figure I will plate it next week and start my little trips to be sure all is good. Weather should be above 0 C and bare roads but with the top all should be warm...no precipitation-laiden drives until I get new rubber weather stripping. Car idles fine but stays at about 1500 after any additional juice. I have isolated the issue to the rear carb not dropping/returning to idle. If I manually push the bit the return spring attaches to, revs go to normal idle...will search tech wiki unless someone has a hint. Would a stronger return spring be a fix?

Noticed front float bowl overflow was spewing gas at idle...adjusted the float and so far so good. No more spewing. Engine starts fine with no choke....idle is still about 1000, and it won't drop back below 1500 or even 2000 at idle after raving over 2000. I will continue to tinker with the carbs.

Ralph:

Engine starts fine with no choke.. means you are running too rich. Wont start without choke means lean, which it should be. Try leaning out the mixture. Look at your spark plugs. Black is too rich, white is too lean, tan is what to shoot for.
