What I see is the seat stitching does not line up the same with the grommets and posts. In the first photo the center stitch goes to the left side grommet and in the second it goes to right grommet. The headrests look pretty equal lining up to the grommets and posts.

You are right. Here I have been focused on the headrests. So it looks like the seat back covers that are not aligned.

The seats look good, other than the stitching on the headrest. How do they sit/ feel? I live in the South Bay and need to get my seats redone. What was the total?

It's really a bit surprising that no vendor ever looked into having new seat buns made

If one could make a mold, they would be easy to replicate. I made headrest foam.

You would need to ask Ed Mason. He made the mold for me from his original 67.5 headrest foam. Looks like fiberglass to me. I think the molding for the seat would not be that difficult if you had a nice to near perfect piece to mold from. They make very large items out of this foam, and there are numerous densities to choose from. There would be no issues using this product for seat bottoms. If you wanted a firmer seat, use the higher density foam. More cushion, use a lower density foam. If someone had a real nice seat bottom, sans seat covers, I could work on some molds.

David, the Volkswagen foam is close but I don't think it would fit the frame and cover if you compare to the Datsun foam. But maybe pieces could be used for repairs.

Somewhere on the board is a post about seat foam that discusses a 3 layer pink/blue/green foam.

Does anyone know where that is or where to get it

Juju, I had used this seat foam that you are referring to. It is called Confor Foam and I purchased mine through this website:

http://www.kch-inc.com/

Here is also another place I found more information regarding this product.
