White smoke may be due to water leaking into the combustion chambers.

Today I watched a great auction of another sweet roadster on BAT.
We bought our 69 at that auction in July and still haven't seen it in person! We had it sent to our home in Arizona and is sitting in the blisteringly hot garage! Hope it doesn't melt! Having a roll bar chromed for it. Also re-chromed a luggage rack and have an extra rear deck lid so plan on having that painted to match the car so we can use the rack when we want or enjoy the car without it. Looking forward to our first ride in it!!

Don't recall whether I took any 'before', but I'll take some of the 'after', along with the tooling and rivets.

What I also found was at the snubber end of the limiter arm, probably due to years of inaction, the arm and the top and bottom capture springs were not being pulled through the full extent of their designed travel, through the point at which the springs ride over the wire in the A-pillar pocket and capture the door from freely swinging open/closed, which travel freed up after the fix was applied, as I worked the door through its full design range of motion. Some dry film lubrication in that mechanism helped its smoothness and will probably help avoid another tear-out.

Has to be cleaned up with a 3M rotary brush, but holding like a champ!

With that accomplished, what remains is the 20-tooth pinion and new carrier insertion and indexing, replacing the 18-tooth and original carrier, which requires the car to be up on jacks, with the garage still full of construction supplies, so, I wait...

With the current pause, I finally got around to installing my NOS LSD I got from Japan a couple of years ago. Thanks to Dave Premo for performing the work!

That's some very cool rare stuff.

Now, show us that it's functioning with a nice two-stripe burnout.

Yeah, definitely not a “need” but rather a “want.” It was the last Competition Part I wanted to get me to the place where I feel like the car is “done” now. IMO, any self-respecting sports car should really come with a LSD standard from the factory anyway; I simply remedied Nissan’s oversight. :D

My numbers matching '66 arrived yesterday. The guy I purchased it from took it in trade and couldn't get it to run so he decided to dump it. I bought it based on a few pictures, trust, and for a great price. Turns out the car is complete, all original except for the seats and an added electric fuel pump. Today I took a look at the engine. Turns out the electric fuel pump was installed the wrong way (flow) and the the glass bulb of the fuel filter was only 1/3 full. So I reversed the fuel pump and pressurized the fuel tank to forced fuel into and fill the filter housing, turned the key and it started right up! Did a quick adjustment of the idle and the engine purred like a kitten! "One Man's trash is another man's treasure!"

With the brakes now complete and the car running well, its on to cosmetic concerns. Replaced aged and cracking tail light gaskets inner and outer. In the process of replacing wing window rubber (67.5) one down ,one to go. That process turned out to be more complicated than I had anticipated, but was able to figure out the process. Installed back up hood release cable. Trunk release back up on the list. Chrome carrage (sp?) bolts installed in bumper riser holes as my car was missing risers when purchased and I prefer the cleaner look anyway. These upgrades all fall into the category my wife refers to as, "Who's gonna notice?" I simply smile without reminding her that she paints her toenails in winter and puts on snow boots.
Ive seen normal. It aint pretty.

Well, my '66 survivor, after 45 years, has it's heart. This is an important step towards coming back to life. Rebuilt the original, numbers matching r16, refurbished the tranny. Installed today. Gonna spend the weekend hooking things up and checking electrical for smoke. Hopefully can fire it up soon. Pat

Baja, always nice to get little projects out of the way after fighting the brake issue. Pat, your 66 is looking good.

This weekend I installed new front comp springs. It went smooth with no nasty nuts or seized components. Love the ride, much lower, have to watch speed bumps a bit more. A fun ride made even more fun.
