Worked on bringing the '66 "survivor" back to life. Installed master cylinders and attempted to bleed brakes. Found an issue with one caliper, easy to resolve, but reminded me how much I hate brake fluid!
Started to assemble parts on freshly rebuilt, numbers matching R16. I figured after 46 years of limbo, she deserved some jewelry. The Z-Therapy carbs are sweet!

Hopefully will hear it run soon.

Getting set to do a 20-tooth pinion/carrier installation to replace the stock 18-tooth/carrier.

When you say "15-20 degree CCW", from what perspective is that?

Looking at internal pinion end, or looking at the external carrier end?

Or, stated another way, 15-20 degree less CW tightening of the pinion carrier?

Thanks.

Figured I’d pushed my luck far enough with the fire extinguisher rolling around on the floor behind the passenger seat. Sooo...I installed a quick release mount on the roll bar. Pull the red pin and off it comes.

Looks good but theft is a concern.....
I like your roll bar lights also.

$20 for the fire extinguisher, $20 for the mount,....many thousands to replace a burned up car!
You can’t worry about theft when your top is made out of cloth :(

Better to mount the thing than get smack in the back in an emergency stop
The lights in the roll bar must have taken a ‘few’ hours to mount ! (And a rather sharp drill bit or hole saw). Are they LEDs?

I was thinking of lighting my rollbar as well, how is the glare at night with the top up when the brakes are applied? Does it light up the whole cabin?

Ha,ha, indeed it did take a few hours to install and a sharp bit. And yes they are LED’s. They are actually marker lights for a semi trailer. While it took some time to drill the holes, it took much more time to wire them. I wasn’t worried about getting hit in the head with the extinguisher since it was on the floor behind the seat. What I was worried about was it rolling around and accidentally discharging!

As to the glare at night with the top up, I can’t say. When I installed my new top about a year and a half ago I put it up to check the fit, and that’s the only time it has ever been up! They are pretty bright at night, so I suspect they will light you up!

A_ha. 🤨. I figured that you had a drill press laying about !!
Get the holes lined up and correctly perpendicular to the axis would be a sin with the Harry Homeowner drill.
Did you get the lights wired up for syncopated turn, like the old t-bird or cougars of 1968-69??

Just noticed your bars mount points. So it bolt through the back package self and to the flat floor, directly behind and to the side of the seats?

I have two different roll bars. One like yours and another which has angle metal front mount points that bolts to the front of the package self, which may not offer much protection (as if you’d survive a roll over in a roadster 😱 )

The lights are strictly brake lights. The fancy turn signals are beyond my scope of electrical knowledge.
Not depending on the roll bar to save me in a roll over, but I do trust it more than the flimsy A pillars!
It does however make a good place for a third brake light and to hang a fire extinguisher :D Best of all though, it’s an excellent place to properly mount the anchor for a 3 point seatbelt.

I haven't done it yet, well, half way there, but I bought headers and they're on their way as of today!

Very excited, PO already installed a 2L starter so that's one less thing to worry about.

Repaired the long-ago torn-out drivers door limiter clevis. Dremeled the door jamb and clevis surfaces, cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and canned air to remove any residue and oils, and to provide surface bite. Pre-drilled clevis at inner spot weld. Cleaned again. Attached clevis to door jam with Loctite EA445 structural epoxy adhesive (brutal stuff, maybe a 3 minute working time). Full strength set in 24 hours. Drilled thru clevis pre-drill spot into door jamb for and placed 3/16" diameter, 1/8" grip, large-flanged stainless steel blind rivet. Replaced former clevis rivet with a Chicago bolt. Working drivers side door limiter.
