That came out great!... car looks familiar, did you buy it from BaT a few years ago?

Yes it is...

I didn’t buy it from BaT but watched the auction where it sold a couple of years back. Forgot about it until I got a late Friday evening phone call from a car club buddy up here in Canada that went something like this:

‘Hey Shaun, what’s up?’

‘I’m at a collector car auction in *name of next city over*. They’re auctioning a 1967.5 1600 for no reserve tomorrow. If you don’t buy it, I will!’

‘Er, let me check it out online’

Which I did. Immediately recognized it from the BaT auction (those bumpers!). Looked up the sell price from the BaT auction: $ 6600.00. That was my bid cap for this auction (Canadian $). I couldn’t go to the auction but I could bid online, so I had buddy Shaun on the ground to check it out and let me know when they were rolling it up on the auction block. His assessment was honest, thick paint job with bondo cracks, rocker and floor pan rust, filthy engine bay and custom red/black interior with sun faded carpet. Some gauges not working (Speedo & clock). Car starts and runs, trans is notchy, all lights and electrical functioning but sloppily wired.

Fine, will see where the bidding goes. 4000..4500...5000...5250...5750...6000...6250... no bid from me yet.

Next one is a $ 6500.00 bid... hmmm, why not... throw my only one in for $ 6750.00.

Going... going... gone! I’m in the den with the door closed... my wife is yelling through the door ‘what are you doing on the internet in there!?!’

‘Nothing! Absolutely nothing, dear!’ I yelled back through the door, erasing my browser history...

Plan is to undo all the previous owner damage piece by piece with an eventual eye to a SR20 swap. Bumpers were the second job, removing the horrible Grant steering wheel and cleaning up the original wheel was first. Also ordered a pile of parts from Ross which will be installed this summer and ordering a engine & dash harness from Curtis as the wiring is so badly hacked and spliced it’s time to rip it out and start fresh.

That will be a great conversion from what it was to what it will become!

It's Eastwood Extreme Chrome powder. Guy in our car club does his own powdercoat and I talked him into working on the bumpers. He says no clear coat as it makes silver and chrome powder look grey in the sunlight.

It's not perfect, the bumpers and overriders have a lot of dents we couldn't get out and close up there is variation in the finish, but compared to what we started with... not bad, not bad at all.

Cool,
I ordered 1lbs Each of the Extreme Chrome and Super gloss clear to do my headlight trims, grill and a few other parts but have been on the fence on doing it.

When I spoke to Eastwood upon ordering they had told me that while the clearcoat does remove some reflectivity it was highly recommended to protect the finish from not fading

I sent you a PM with my phone number if you could text me some close-up picture I would really appreciate it.
Also I see you’re in Edmonton are you close to the airport by any chance? I travel to Calgary every other week or so and could make a quick layover in Edmonton to see this live

Thank you
Jack

I'm in central Edmonton, about 40 min from the airport... If you have a 3 hour layover, that would be enough to check it out... lol. Will take some more pics tonight and send to your phone.

Cheers,

My car never came with a jack, so I bought one off of eBay last summer. I restored the jack itself, but forgot about the handle. I recently found it under my reloading bench, so I restored it. I 3D printed a handle, pressed in some 1/2” bearings, and drilled and tapped the end of the rod for a shoulder bolt.

It’s just some yellow enamel that I thought was a neat color. The original yellow was lighter.

Got the new drivers door interior panel installed. Not much to it, but nice that it went without a hitch. I bought a bag of door clips from British Parts NW https://www.bpnorthwest.com/door-panel- ... 4-tr6.html for cheap and they work well. Included a pic of the OEM clip next to the one for the TR-4

Thanks, nice find. Just ordered a set! As I typed this, I'm thinking I should have looked at one of our roadster parts stores first. Whoppsy daysie
