That looks nice, I like the combination of Gunmetal Gray and Polished lip.

Well I was trying to freshen up the interior on the driver. Then I found this so off for rust repairs along with the rusted passenger door pillar. The idiots painted right over the rust. Seems to have been a flipped car for a quick profit. Eventually I hope to have this car original white again.

First thing I find is an air conditioned wheel well.

Driver side not as bad.

And of course the passenger floor is also air conditioned. Haven't removed the driver carpet yet.

Curtis, when I am cleaning rust up, not on my roadster of course but on old farm equipment, I use a slag hammer to knock the big stuff off. Big plates that would take an hour to wear through with a wire wheel or even a flap wheel will pop right off

OMG, if the chunks were that big I'd have a Flintstone car with my feet on the ground.

Curtis, even a half inch diameter slab of rust with plenty of good steel under it can take 15 min. to wear through with a wire wheel. It is pretty disappointing to spend the time with the wire wheel, prime it, paint it, then have a big chunk of rust pop off. That is why I go over it with the slag hammer.

Tried some naval jelly and permatex rust remover yesterday with limited results. I intend to blast it once all the paint is removed. Put a tarp down and pull the blaster gun out of my cabinet. Stuff it in a bucket of media. We'll see how that goes. I've been putting this project off for years. Had some of the new interior stuff around.

I'm just disappointed to find the wheel wells rusted through. The floor I expected some. Some days a Miata MX5 or a new Jaguar sounds good.

I was looking at used Aston Martin until I saw the maintenance cost. Looked at the Maserati and the same. Jaguar is a bit better. Jaguar quality has improved a lot.

Got some more clean up done today on the interior mess. Found the inevitable cracks around the seat bolt hole.
Obviously this car was not from Arizona.

got another second car (my son bought my Lexus) now I can park the datsun and get the interior started ! I'm holding back on driving it so i can get some things done without rushing it . . its hard but my new Mercedes helps some .. the datsun is going to the garage (when its cleaned out enough) never thought I'd say that but theirs no way to drive it and fix interior too . I'm reluctant to park it and strip it though . how do u guys do it ? years these things are parked not driven .. I'm going nuts just considering parking mine . haha

You and I both. Mine needs bodywork, but I don't want to park it for that long. :(

It just depends on how gullible you are. In January of 2015 I told myself that I was going to do a quick prep of some rusty areas and get it painted in June and on the road in July. Well, myself believed me and I tore into it, and finally got her on the road this last August.
