It worked, and I started wet blasting the hard to get parts of my 66. Only problem now is the flash rust. I need to find a Good rust inhibitor I can add to the pressure pot that will be safe to prime over.
The first time that I did any significant sand blasting was to prepare a rusty dump truck body for new paint. I was picking up the paint and the fellow on the counter asked if I had acid wash. Say what?? He told me that it was needed to kill the rust that would be hiding down in the rust pits on the steel. So I got it and used it but then I had flash rust after rinsing the acid off. To avoid the rust I put some alcohol in a bucket and sopped it on heavy after the water rinse. It made the water evaporate too quickly for rust to occur.

I may have to give that a try. I know they do sell a product made specifically for wet blasting to prevent flash rust. I will have to read the SDS.

Got my new tires yesterday. Need to go get them mounted now. What a pain to find 175 width radial whitewalls.

Why did you choose that size, are you going for the stock look? I need tires as well, but not looking for a stock look.

My driver has AR Libre with 185's on it and I find them a bit wide looking. I didn't want bias ply tires but an original looking tire in radial. This is close enough for me.

Got the new tires mounted. Four white walls and a black wall spare.

Thanks. These are the 4.5" later wheels. I have a set of 5" 240Z wheels that I'm not sure if I will use. They were take offs by the original owner the day after he bought the car.

Took the new tires for a test run. I really like them and I think I'll buy another set for this car since these are meant for the restoration car. Turns the 20 footer in to a 10 footer.

Thanks. The wheels were powder coated white by mistake. So I blasted them with ground glass to rough up the powder coat and then spray bombed them with primer and Ford argent silver. They came out really nice.

Those look nice and nostalgic Curtis. Funny how the wheels can completely change the looks and sometimes even the perceived intent of a car. I sometimes want to buy some original size bias tires for my stock wheels and switch them out every now and then with my Empi's. I bet the handling will be much different then my modern sticky 195's :D now about those Libre's that look to wide....

You're right Linda, it never does end, but it pays dividends! Looks great.
