Received back my rockers from RockerArms Unlimited. They did their magic and look great! Got a say these guys charge a very reasonable fee. $59 to the door shipped so that’s about 10 bucks a pop.

Spent the day with Mr Premo as he was instructing me on how to port a head and intake manifold. I was suppose to do most of it but was pretty apprehensive about screwing it up. With that-Dave did most of it but I did get to do the parts I felt comfortable with. This head and intake is for the 66 stroker build. First thing we did was to get the intake and exhaust manifold to fit on the head. We had to do a bit of grinding and some drilling but finally we were successful. The next step was to bolt both the intake and the exhaust manifold to the head with the intake gasket. After that we took the whole assembly to the drill press where Dave drilled several holes in the bottom of the manifold through the intake, gasket and the head to install locating pins. We then dissembled everything and took a big black marker to color around the intake and exhaust ports on the head and the intake manifold. The intake gasket was marked head side and intake side. With the locating pins in place we put the gasket back in placed and scribed all of the ports so we could remove the excess material, taper and smooth it all out. Came out pretty good. As you can see the new valves are over sized but not to radically. Head goes back to the machine shop tomorrow for final assembly. A few pics of the process. And a big thank you to Dave....

Did you reduce the "lumps" in the intake runners, or even eliminate them?

Will have to take a better pic of the locating pins next time I am at Dave's. No Sid the lumps are still there but there is a smooth transition to them. Those intakes are pretty shitty at best. Dave had a celebratory beer after he finished. Pretty serious guy when he is working at something.
