And of course the ONLY person to come from the OTHER valley with his trashy roadster - Eliza - but let's not mention that!!!

My apologies Peter, I was just naming names of newer members to my neck of the woods. You're the only guy that ever comes out from the other Valley! Oh, Linda?
By the way the carbies are disassembled and dipping in solvent as I text.

Met AJ from Azusa with a beautiful off white/Tan 1600, have yet to meet Tyem from Monrovia. Ray Lims my neighbor in Arcadia with 3 roadsters and Howard with his beautiful Red 2000 from La Canada ways. Both Howard and mine are 50 cars apart on the assembly line. Probably built the same day and both red. Looking forward to many runs in the future.
Hello Neighbor! I too am glad a bunch of us are coming out of the woodwork. There is also Eddie nearby with a swapped 1500 too! I was hoping some day to have you come over to supervise me on removing my engine and trans in prepping it for a swap. Cold beer and soda will be provided! Now i have to figure on a date. Most likely after Solvang.

I couldn't get the Roadster to idle less than about 1800 RPM. Any lower than that and it would die. And the choke was sticking on. So I pulled the carbs this weekend and noticed that the throttle plate on one of them was totally closed with the choke on full. I made some adjustments and we will see if they worked once my new gaskets come in Wednesday!

Rear brakes adjusted. Always forget how important it is to have a good adjustment. Firm pedal and emergency brake takes 4 clicks.
Jack both wheels up, ebrake off, use 1/4 extension to fit on bolt, turn til rotation stops, then back off so that wheel turns about 1 1/2 turns before stopping. This may represent 1-2 turns back.

Timed the Isky cam (best guess), prepped for break in, set valve lash, checked for valve spring coil bind, re-shimmed the tensioner after observing its movement without oil pressure (!). Need to change the oil, fire it up and break in the cam... after I get the front suspension back on the car (waiting on the idler box bushing work), then see how it's working! Spring is coming!

re adjusting rear brakes, i find it easier to find a 1/4 drive socket and corresponding allen key.

Accomplishes the same in the long run, but just easier to use.

Been working on reviving SRL311-00194. Have a temporary (albeit leaking) exhaust hooked up. Solexes weren't too happy at first. After a bit of cleaning she is back to life (and can keep an idle). Still tons to do, but excited about the progress!

As purchased with Engine apart.

Has anybody tried the Kobalt spline drive sockets? From their site: Specialized socket design allows work on multiple fastener types including 6-point, 12-point, square, star, spline and most rounded.

I don't have rear drums anymore, but the socket worked great on my garage door springs!

I got some reproduction stainless carb screws at Solvang from Sin City Datsun. They fit perfectly, like OEM, and look nice, plus I can tighten them evenly, unlike my old beaten and battered OEM screws.
Sometimes it's the small things.....

Cleaned my garage to make room for my first clutch job. Took hood off and radiator out. Labeled and bagged parts.

Once you get the hood off you have gotten past the toughest part.

Picked up this little jewel a few weeks ago and set about restoring it. Not “correct” for my ‘69. Thinking maybe someone will want to do a little horse trading down the line with me (I need Everwings). This one actually still has its vacuum clip; perfect for a 67.5 SU car. A simple weld can change this over into a “Solex” cover if that is what someone wants...
