What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)

Post by tjp »

In the spirit of Linda's "Where did you drive your Roadster" thread, I thought I'd start this thread (hoping it doesn't already exist  ) for everyone, especially those of us who don't have a full-on build thread going. This is a popular thread on the IFSJA.org mother ship.

Yesterday I built a couple door braces for the donor body on the body stand and also cataloged about six dozen baggies and small bottles of parts (mostly fasteners) in hopes of finding missing parts. Still have about that many more baggies and small bottles to go through and a couple dozen bigger boxes...sigh.

Today I started the front end disassembly on Dad's Roadster in preparation for a pending engine swap.

Tomorrow will be too cold to do more.

Who's next?

PEACE :D

It was 58 degrees today. Wanted to take a ride. Charged batteries, labeled and stored some parts, cleaned up a set of Libres.

I thought about doing a number of different things; does that count??

Checked to see if my exhaust manifold's been jet-hot coating yet. Nope. After only taking 6 months for the welder to do the repairs, not expecting to get it back from the powdercoater for another couple of weeks as he's only had it about a month so far. :(

Original plan was to put it back on the car last summer.....

Great thread idea Tim! If you don't DRIVE, then you might as well DO.
I got some parts ready to sell, thought about changing the tranny mount soon, and helped Peter with some garage clean-up. Too cold to do very much. It was chilly driving home and I was too lazy to pull the blanket out of the trunk.

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Worked on #402 to get her ready to sell. Put on the bumpers and put in the carpet kit among other things.

Yes great topic idea Tim!

Just the completed the last tasks before moving my car out the body shop corner where I have doing some assembly work. I positioned the hood and doors so the gaps were nearly uniformed and adjusted the latch mechanisms. Assembled the front grille after some chrome work and polishing.

Visited Ross at his shop this morning for some assembly guidance and to generally swap stories and lies.

oooo....fun stuff that! (NOT!) I broke a bolt too close to the block removing a water pump last summer. I plan to apply anti-seize by the quart on the stroker assembly!!

Yesterday I fixed the poorly adjusted aftermarket fuel sender. Today I rebuilt my horn relay and replaced the wiring. I also installed a vacuum activated heater control valve and wired it up with a relay to the heater switch so I can defrost my windshield next driving season.

Well I didn't pick up my frame from the blaster because it rained here all day. Cleaned the garage then worked on repairing the rusted front rocker.

Yesterday I modified my Rota RB caps to fit over front hubs using stainless steel drink holders, cutting the bottom out of them and glued a retainer ring in side for the org small cap to snap onto.
