Definitely a big difference in power than the R16 in Doris although she is running very well right now!

Saturday morning drive with friends. Two S30 Z cars, KA-powered Datsun 510, BMW 2002, F20C-powered Toyota AE86 and an immaculate (S5) 13B-powered Mazda RX-2. Lots of twisty roads were enjoyed!

What a great bunch of cool cars!
I do have some pics of our latest drive, a circumnavigation of Mt Rainier, but they are in my wife's phone and she hasn't sent them to me yet (working 12 hrs shifts)... I'll try Alvin!
As I look the cars over, I'm still more attracted to the Roadster than any other. And nothing beats a convertible for a driving experience, especially in mountains or other scenic views.

The roadster puts them all to shame. Especially that one. One of my favorite roadsters on this site. Always loved a black roadster. Alvin has built an exceptional one. No shame on any of the other cars, they are all very nice, but in MHO they cant hold a candle.
Ive seen normal. It aint pretty.

Roadster Drive Today. 7-28-20. 69 S2000. South Skagit Hwy. 253 miles.
Another Beautiful PNW day. Mid 70's. Sunny. Perfect Roadster driving day.
North along the Cascade foothills to Clear Lake. Then 42 miles east along the South Skagit Hwy.
An alternative to the busy Hwy 20 on the north side of the Skagit River.

Roadster Drive today. 7-31-20. 69 S2000. Sunrise, Mt Rainier. 200 miles.
Fine drive today. Sunny and not too hot. To Sunrise at 6400' on Mt Rainier.
With DROPS members. Dan R, white 68 2000, Steve and Cheryl C, blue 65 1500, Karl B, Red 69 1600.
Parking lot full at Sunrise but found a nice spot beside the road. Mt Rainier was a bit cloudy.
Road up was fairly traffic free allowing for a spirited assent.
No problems but the 1500 and 1600 were a little "winded" at 6400'.

Last night, perfect evening in St.Albert Alberta, over 200 cars drove in single file through all the neighbourhoods on the east side of town. Thursday do it all again on west side . Every type of car there... Ferrari , Porsche, hellcats, vettes, hot rods and of course one Datsun roadster...yeah. Folks lined the roads, sitting on curbs and front lawns. Cheering, and lots of horn honking
C02C2D2D-B142-4169-865E-6A0846595D12.jpeg
Normally there would be a huge car show on Saturday after car parade Friday night through town, but with pandemic, a drive through neighbourhoods sure brought smiles out

Roadster Drive Today. 8-5-20. Concrete and Baker Lake. 280 miles.
Excellent drive today with 5 DROPS Members. 3 70 2000's!. Beautiful weather, mid 70's and sunny.
Dan R, white 68 2000. John V, silver 70 2000, Jerry, silver 70 2000, David N, red 70 2000, Ted, orange 67.5 SR.
DROPS member Art B, blue 66 1600, showed up at our starting location. Short test drive for his his just completed head gasket replacement.
Extra DROPS merits for David N. His beautiful just refreshed and painted roadster got dusty and unfortunately we had 15 miles of new chip seal.
He broke it in !. Probably will find a few rock chips after but better to get that over with. No Garage Queen!!
Notice the properly Covid-19 spaced shade trees for our lunch break near the Concrete Silos.

On Saturday I visited the hallowed grounds of Laguna Seca Raceway in my Datsun Roadster during the Driver Appreciation event. Got the best seat in the house at Turn6!

Image

It was a fun event that reminded me of the 2018 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, soooo many Datsuns!
Lone Datsun Roadster racer Michael Anderson piloted his historically-significant "Franklin/Mcdowell" 1968 2000 in Group 3. I will have a full report on the blog soon, enjoy the video!

Yesterday I stopped by my fire station with the roadster and got involved in helping a probie with some training and missed my time window for some errands. Time for a drive though. After a few minutes I remembered a cruise night not far away that a friend had told me about. There are very few being held but this one was going. I was the third one there but eventually there were around 40 cars and trucks including three roadsters, my 311 and a TR-6 and an AH 3000. One especially unusual one was an AMC AMX. The first one I have seen in maybe thirty years.

Sorry, I was going to post one of the AMX but It came out too big and I had to leave to get to an appointment so I couldn't take the time to email it to myself and reduce it. Later.
