NICE Roadster drive today with John Valiton and Santosh. The Skagit Valley Loop. About 200 miles. Sunny warm day.
From Marysville to Stanwood, La Conner, Bay View, Edison, Sedro Woolley, Arlington, Granite Falls, Sultan.
Boat building in Bay View. Huge eagles nest still in the tree near Edison.
2 young eagles testing their wings, about ready to leave the nest.
Note that John V. has the correct Nissan roll bar in his 2000.

Yesterday we drove toward Mt Rainier. Then outside of Greenwater we took one of Ted's favorite roads, NF 70, one that we had all done together a few years back that I'd forgotten about. Wow, what fun! Terrific road with pretty good pavement (a few deep dips, once again the Bilsteins prove they're worth every penny), almost nobody on it for miles of twists and turns. Engine has about 750 miles now and it's great. We're heading out to the mountains again to see what we can find... Datsun Roadster adventures await!

Hey Greg looking good there. Is that a fan clutch attached to the water pump? I haven’t seen one on a car in so long. Good to see you got everything sorted!

Nope, I run an electric. I believe it's off a Datsun 310, got it out of a wrecking yard 20 or so years ago. It has a shroud that works on my rad in the way I have modified it.

Putting these videos together is pretty fun (especially since I can do everything right on my phone). As long as there’s sun, I try to get out for a drive while at work.

Road trip to Montana 7/4-5.....Something followed me home. Been assessing my purchase over the weekend. Looks like a great survivor! Got original title dated 9/66 purchased in Billings, MT. Same family owned. Last licensed 1974.

The Good:
Unmolested
Extremely complete and 99% rust free
Glass good
Has original factory warranty book
Top boot and Tonneau cover in great condition
Exceptional steering wheel "d"
wiring looks to be in great condition
No mice!
Looks to have been in dry storage

The Bad:
no keys
needs hubcaps
needs one wiper blade
needs tires
#'s matching engine/ tranny is not installed but there.
minor body dings/dents

The plan for now is to get her together, running and stopping. No restoration. Only this original once.

Looks like my winter plans are made!

Pat

My wife Tammy and I hit the North Cascades Hiway, sticking to country roads as much as possible. Left on Monday, dodged most of the foul weather through the passes, but got caught on the far side heading toward Winthrop with a squall... no top, but we did prove yet again that you don't get very wet if you can maintain a decent speed! We were able to to drive out of it eventually. Was dry in Winthrop overnight, so no problems there, and we drove up some steep canyon dirt roads to watch the sunset and listen to the sounds of nature (once the engine fan shuts off!). Next morning we continued on South on the east side of the cascades, taking our time to find some awesome back roads, then back into the mountains through Leavenworth and on to Monroe, and finally back down past Snoqualmie Falls and home. We got some rain going home but I put up the bikinI top and we stayed completely dry. It was a really fun trip. The car has about 1400 miles on the engine now and everything seems great. I'm detecting no ping even off the cam and under load, so the timing map and carbs seem set well, minus a need for some bigger pump jets. Getting about 26 mpg in the mountains with some spirited driving and warp drive blasts, and the powerband is wide and is still pulling at 7000. So far so Good! We may head south toward St Helens tomorrow...

So yesterday an idiot turned left at an intersection right in front of me.

Where the skid marks ended was less than 6 inches from hitting him.

If I had been looking at my gauges or rearview mirror, I would have hit him.

It can be scary out there!!
