I drove to work today for the first time. I got the Roadster a little while back, but I'd been out of town for a while and it was in the shop (internal short in the alternator). It was great, but I'm looking forward to having the all ball joints replaced, along with the cut front springs and new Bilsteins all around. To start.

Saturday was our first taste of warm summer weather. 97 degrees in the shade!
It was time for our Annual Hardtop Removal Party!

Sunday, I visited Joe (oppositelock) and we drove up HYW9 and Skyline to Fogarty Winery.

A slightly cooler 92 degrees in the valley and even cooler at the winery:

Love that license plate!

It's been awhile since we helped Joe R&R the R16/5-speed from his '68 PL. It is running awesome. The new exhaust sounds great:

Thanks for coming out Joe!

I simply use the "[img]" tags at the top. It's the landscape looking button, 2 buttons over to the left of the "A" button.

Whoops, didn't see this 'til now. Here's my entry for this thread...

===================================

A great Hills day for Nissans & Datsuns!

Took my 45 AND 50 year olds (that'd be wife and roadster :icon38:) out for a "fun run" up to the winery in the Santa Cruz mountains. Had to go pick up our "Spring Allocation" of Fogarty Wines. Wife said, "Let's take the roadster!"

Here was the first Nissan encountered - at the gas station at the base of the hills.
Image
Nice 33. Non-rice, functional wing (car was built to run SSM), big brakes, multi-piece rotors, cage, etc. He had a bit of trouble starting, pulled out a mega battery jumper and was on his way shortly, turning down any assistance I offered him. I had troubles starting too. He offered me help in return, laughingly. "Carburetors, right?" were is words. Cool.

I was to almost follow him up the hill. Uhh, not so much...ended up behind SUVs. All good because no pushing allowed....I did say I had my wife with me. Hahahaha.
Image

But ya, on the way, exercised best road courtesy to the bikes screaming up Hwy 9 flagging them by from the turnouts and once at the top, came across the first interesting group of Nissan/Datsuns out for a burn! Get this.... a pair of amazing R34 Skylines with a lone S30 stopped - and eventually catching me on the 35 stretch up to Woodside/Alice's. Again, I yielded to them and let 'em by. The Skylines blew by but the Z held back a bit until the road straightened out and I waved him around. Nice...sounded great!!

Then, on same road a group of about 8 33s and a couple of Dimes were passing the opposite direction. I gave them all a thumbs up and it was amazing to see the 9-10 of them heading South as we head North. Wow.

Sorry no pics of these encounters, you just have to kinda of imagine how thrilled I was. :smt002

At the winery:

My babes and THE idyllic pic spot. ;)

Best part of our enjoying the drive was to make some final determinations and decisions on the direction I'm taking the roadster. "Will I be building the suspension?" (H'yes!) and "Brake upgrade? Yeah, I'm going there." My credit card companies and Rob @ ZCG will be happy.

All in all... Freakin' awesome day, perfect 65-70 deg weather, sunshine where it needed to be, two of my very favorite things with me :o, 16 bottles of Pinot, Chard, and Blanc de Blanc sparking and..... No other enthusiast cars spotted all day and the ones we did see were all Nissan/Datsuns! That pretty well defines "Mic's Perfect Day"!

Not this weekend, but met the wife and some friends for dinner and took the scenic route back, and stopped tor a quick picture overlooking the Salt Lake Valley. And since my wife neglected to tell me we were giving someone a ride to their car I actually made use of the third seat.

What you have been waiting for!. Pebbles NEW roadster.

Great drive on a beautiful day.
Rick, Art, and Ted drove to Dave McP's roadster ranch and saw his new low windshield, U20, 5spd roadster.
VERY nice roadster. BUT demerits for an improperly aligned gas cap.
Dave led us on a loop of Camano Island. Art and Rick headed back and Ted and Dave
drove further north in the Skagit Valley and looped back thru Arlington. Dave got toasted red from too much sun.
