I installed the correct driver's side seat back into my car (Thanks Joe Russo!). It wasn't a direct fit to the passenger-side seat bottom, so I had to drill one side bigger and make an adapter bushing on a lathe for the other side. And since I haven't bought new covers yet, I sprayed both white seats black so now everything matches! Vinyl paint is awesome.

Got the windshield and trim installed. Also installed the wipers...because I heard the rumor that we're gonna get rained on in Solvang. :smt009

Start up with no; choke, carb tuning, or spark timing adjustments. Defiantly need to work on throttle return.

Loaded the car up, and took it to the muffler shop..

Put the car on the lift, ready for an exhaust..

Exhaust in..

Checked on interior, hoping..

Stopped by my house, we changed my alternator. My first custom one went 90k miles. This one, less than 1 thousand. So something went wrong in the rebuild. It will be dropped off back at the alternator shop. Good news is we had a spare!

My newly acquired Panas looked a bit incomplete so I fabbed up some budget center caps. Krylon rattle cans come with a round top that snugly fits my 67 mm Pana centers. Gutted and dremeled the top off and snap fitted some El Cheapo center caps off Ebay. Also applied some double sided tape between flattened grease cap and back side of new cap for reassurance. Wish I had a Datsun logo but this will do for awhile. Looks complete now.

Nice efforts and good results! I fully support all efforts to cover those center cap holes!! :-)

Brought my new turbo transmission to Kevin's house Tuesday night..
Image

We stuck my car on stands and decided to call it a night.
Image

Came back Wednesday morning, drained fluids and pulled radiator..
Image

More disassembly, almost ready to pop..
Image

Hooked up and coming out..
Image

Put it on the floor and it's lunch time..
Image

Swap some switches and the speed sensor over, getting the turbo trans ready..
Image

Clutch still looks good after almost 40k miles.. It went back in..
Image

New trans on the block, ready to go back in..
Image

Motor in, love these old tools that are just perfect for assembly.
Image

Reassembled, and headed home into the sun..
Image

Great day. Kevin put some pipe in to replace the piece of the exhaust I lost while jumping the car on the way to Solvang while I started disassembly. We pulled the motor, replaced the pilot bushing with a needle bearing type, replaced the trans with a new turbo trans, reassembled the car, and got it back on the road.

5th gear cruising is now about 500 rpm lower at the same speeds, no changes in 1st thru 4th. Really like this transmission..

I tried to tidy up (5) steel wheels with hopes that 3 may be good enough to replace some of the wobble and hop wheels I previously had been running with. of the 5, one has a little bend in a lip and another is pitted pretty bad but the other 3 look ok. I will have to try mounting a tire on them and see if they will work for me.

here is a sample of one of the better ones.
