cap for tachometer and speedo drive

Post by johnlorio »

I'm converting the tachometer and speedo on my 411 SSS (with R16 engine) to electronic and gps to be done with messy cables and worn drive gears.
After a lot of searching, I found a part that will cap the drives where the cable connects. It is a cap used on Lycoming Engines to cap the tach drive for the same reasons, a switch to electronic on airplanes.

It is a Andair Tacho Cap - Lyc Engine plug TC 875

I found it at Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company, on the internet.

It's pricey but the only part I've found with the correct threads to cover the tach drive.

I have always just cut a small piece of sheet metal in an old end off of a broken cableand then glued it in to cover the hole.

If you're trashing the old cables, I would think you'd be able to cut the threaded part that attaches to the trans and fabricate a cap. No sure if its metal or plastic.
