Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
I picked up my header from the ceramic coaters, installed my alternator (at least temp) and took my new aluminum FW and pp/clutch cover to be balanced. Wife is starting to worry about me being ready for Multi-State-Datsun in Williams. She is buying ... LOL
Machine shop guy asked me if I ever thought about fuel injection ... hum ... not yet ...

This one might go in the "Sins of the previous owner".......
Dropped the pan to check the lower end, before starting up the car, only to discover that whoever did the "rebuild" before I acquired the car had mixed the rod caps and rods up. #1 was ok but #2 rod had #4's cap, #3 was borrowing #4's cap and rod 4 was stuck with #2's cap. At least the the rods were in the right holes and the pistons were installed right. New bearings are installed and the caps were returned to their rightful owners.

Adjusted the valves. They were set at about .030 and clacked like crazy. Installed a Pertronix ignition. Put in new spark plugs (thanks to member NissanToy). New cap/ rotor. New clutch slave cylinder. Detailed out the trunk.

Finally got the wheels and tires on the car. Wheels are 15x7 +12 RB's with 205 50r15 Nitto NeoGen tires. Turned the hubs down to fit the rim bore. Fronts should tuck under the fender lip once the alignment is done.

I can't see the wheels well enough, but they look cool from what I can see. I have the same NeoGen tires/size on a set of Cosmic's, and have been very happy with them. The car feels very confident in the turns. Enjoy!

I totally lucked out and found my Cosmic's in a 15" rim (they are from the '70's, so a 15 was extremely rare... turned out my best friend had them in his shop for the 20+yrs I have known him). But no, stock was 14".Lorna c wrote:how do u move up to a 15 rim ? or was it always 15?Gregs672000 wrote:I can't see the wheels well enough, but they look cool from what I can see. One can use a 15" (or even 16") rim on a Roadster if the offset and bolt pattern are correct.

Lorna,
As Greg said, 14" is the stock size. I had to go to 15" to clear my 300zx brake conversion plus I am planning to do some track day stuff and wanted more tire under the car.
