Copper spray gasket

Post by nismou20 »

Under what conditions would one use this? I understand under most circumstances they say don't use any adhesives when doing head gaskets R/R.

I use Copper Coat on the head oil pan water pomp and front cover gaskets. Trans and diff gaskets too.

So Greydog, you spray it right over the Headgasket on both sides? I understand it promotes heat transfer? So, on water pumps you use strictly this and no other silicone RTV?

Correct to both. I really don't like silicone. If you sealing surfaces are good you shouldn't need silicone.
Btw I use the b r ish on Copper Coat more than the spray. Easier to control...

The problem with silicone seal in motor assembly is that sometimes a little too much is used and it squeezes out on the inside and an oil passage ends up getting blocked.

I used the spray copper sealant on the head gasket, not on the head or block itself Sprayed both sides, let dry to a tacky touch and install.never had a pronlem. Used on my U20 and L18.
