Re: L33
HaHa... I've been hesitant to tell you all about my project since some might scream out "blasphemy" to the gods of roadsters! But now the cats out of the bag... you all can follow my build blog from my site.
The short of it is, the L33 is a gen III all aluminum 5.3 from the trucks and based on the LS1 block design. They basically share the same outside dimensions and a bunch of other components. I used the L33 only while I've been test fitting while waiting for the right LS1/T56 to come along. But the wait is over - the LS1/T56 is in - and the L33 was resold for a El Camino swap. I'm currently finalizing my frame for the motor/trans mounts.
So there it is.... and ugh.... only 73 days till Solvang.

If you really want to get the blood boiling, put an L88 hood scoop on it
Get it to Solvang any way you can. Most people hide their trailers down the street in the big RV lot
Probably the usual...replace with something stronger after the stock one blows up or the splines snap off the axle.princeout wrote:What are the plans for the rear end?

Re: L33
In early February I picked up a entire FD3S RX7 Turbo 3rd member and front hubs with all four brakes. Most likely what I will use, but its going to take some engineering to make it fit. Unfortunately, I'm busy working on three other cars at the same time so you wont be seeing Kaiju in Solvang.

Re: L33
lets face it, with 350 lbs-ft of torque. I think it will be pretty tough not have the wheels break loose regardless of the weight distrubution... unless we tub it. However, since the LS1 is all aluminum, it only weighs 75 lbs more than a u20. We will have to see once its all complete, but I estimate we will see about a 250 lbs differance in the car. Spread from front to rear. engine / trans / rear end swaps. It should be like you took your big friend for a ride in the car311 junkie wrote:Subscribed.
Interested in seeing the final balance ratios- seems that the extra weight in the front would make for not being able to keep the rear end from breaking loose.
Since this is the first of its kind, its tough to make predictions... we will just have to see. Im excited as you all to see what happends.
