67.5 sr20 swap

Post by harrison »

Just postin my build in progess thread of my 67.5 1600. :mrgreen:

When i first got my roadster it was a mess, wires everywhere, mix matched parts, only the amp fuel and oil guages worked.

But then after slowly workin on her over last summer got her lookin a bit more pretty... until everything just started to break. first the float then the water pump then the starter... :?

Then enough is enough. im done with carbs and all the tuning. its time.. SR POWER!! Picked up a semi-restored 68 frame and took it straight to my local datsun shop, Auto Expectations, to get the new Spriso motor mounts installed. And picked myself up a nice lil S13.

Wow, that's a change of direction! Did you intend to go with the engine swap, or did the carbs drive you too it?

Ah ha, gotcha, so it was just an acceleration of existing plans, that's not too bad then. Looking forward to more pictures of the progress. How about a picture or two of the frame prior to re-populating it so your modifications can be clearly seen?

Your frame is in excellent shape.

I finally have my SR20 engine and tranny installed on my modified frame and have (temporarily) placed the body on the frame. It fits very well thanks to Spriso's motor mounts.

You have an advantage of already having a flat dash. I had to do a flat dash conversion for mine!

why do you need to do a dash conversion?
Several reasons:

1) I can install more gauges (without needed multi-gauges) than in the newer style dash and have more options (I'm installing Stewart Warner gauges);
2) More room under the dash for my aftermarket AC/Heat/Defrost unit.
3) Easier to install switches, air vents (for the AC), etc.
3) The vintage look.

Sid: All of mine are high windshield cars (at least they were the last time I looked). :)
